NIMBUVYA GOJJU

Lemon is called Nimbuvo in Konkani. Nimbuvya Gojju is made with Salted Lemon, roasted Red chillies, Hing powder and Coconut oil.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Nimbuvya Gojju.

Ingredients:-

Salted (preserved) Lemon. -2
Red chillies       .                 -3
Hing powder.                      -1/2tsp
Salt.                                     -a pinch if needed.
Coconut oil.                        -1tsp

Instructions:-

To preserve Lemons, first boil few lemons in water for a minute and discard the boiled Water.When little cooled add the boiled lemons in a clean and dry glass bottle. Pour boiled and cooled Salt water into the glass bottle. The lemons will preserve in the Salt solution for a long period.


Chop the Salted (Preserved) Lemon into four pieces and remove the seeds and keep aside.

Roast the Red chillies in little oil till crisp and keep aside.


Salted Lemon and Roasted Red Chillies.


Method:-

Grind the Salted Lemon pieces, roasted Red chillies, Hing powder and a pinch of Salt (if needed) to a smooth paste adding a little bit of water.

Transfer the the ground Lemon paste into a serving bowl.

Add the Coconut oil and mix well.

A tasty Nimbuvya Gojju is ready to serve as a side dish with hot steamed Rice, Curd Rice etc.
