Yam is called Surnu and deep fried pieces of Yam is called Surna Phodi in Konkani.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Surna Phodi.
Ingredients:-
Yam. - a small piece
Salt. -to taste
Oil. -for deep frying
Instructions:-
Remove the outer skin of a small Yam piece and chop the Yam into medium square thick pieces.
Boil the Yam pieces in required water adding little Salt till soft but it should not be mushy. Remove from boiling water and pat dry.
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame for deep frying.
Put the Yam pieces into the hot oil one by one and deep fry till brown and crispy.
Remove the deep fried Yam piece from hot oil and transfer to a plate.
Surna Phodi is ready to serve.
