Godda Machkat / Jaggery Pan Cake..


Godda Machkat is a Konkani style sweet and thick Jaggery Pancake. Godda Machkat / Jaggery Pancake is made with a mixture of Jaggery, Wheat flour, Rice flour, grated Coconut, Cardamom powder and a pinch of Salt and served as a tea time snack.


The following ingredients are needed to prepare Godda Machkat / Jaggery Pancake.

Ingredients:-

Jaggery.        -1cup grated
Wheat flour. -1 cup
Rice flour.    -1/2cup
Coconut.      -3/4 cup grated
Salt.              - a pinch
Ghee.            -2tbsp

Instructions:-

Grate the Jaggery. In a small vessel add the grated Jaggery and 1cup of Water.Boil well till the Jaggery dissolves in water. Filter the Jaggery water to remove the impurities and keep aside.

Method:-

In a mixing bowl add Wheat flour, Rice flour, grated Coconut, a pinch of Salt and mix well.

Add the filtered Jaggery water into the mixing bowl and mix with the flours and Coconut gratings without lumps.Add water if needed and make a semi thick batter. The batter should not be too thick or too thin.

Heat a non stick tawa on medium flame and grease the tawa with little Ghee.

Mix the batter with a laddle and take a laddle full of batter and spread the batter on the hot tawa and make small little thick Pancake.Cook on low flame for few minutes.

When base is cooked well and golden colour add little ghee on sides.

Flip the Pancake with a flat spatula and cook the other side.When both the sides are roasted well and become golden colour, fold the Godda Machkat / Jaggery Pancake and transfer to a serving plate.




A sweet Godda Machkat /Jaggery Pancake is ready to serve as a tea time snack with hot tea or coffee.
