Sweet Rice Flour Puttu is called Godda Poot in Konkani. Sweet Rice Flour Puttu is a steamed dish made by steaming the Rice flour and Jaggery Coconut mixture in a Puttu maker [a cylindrical shape mould]. Now a days we can get different shapes of Puttu makers / Puttu moulds from market.Sweet Rice Flour Puttu / Godda Poot is a healthy breakfast dish served with ripe bananas.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Sweet Rice Flour Puttu / Godda Poot.
Ingredients:-
Rice flour. -1cup
Salt. - to taste
Water. - as required to moist the flour.
Jaggery. -1/2 cup grated
Grated Coconut. -1cup +1tbsp
Cardamom powder. -1tsp
Instructions:-
In a bowl add 1/2 cup grated Jaggery,1cup grated Coconut and 1tsp Cardamom powder. Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly with your hands and keep aside the Jaggery Coconut mixture.
Heat a pan on low flame and dry roast Rice flour till hot to touch and nice aroma comes out.Keep aside.
In a wide mixing bowl add the roasted Rice flour, required Salt and mix well.
Sprinkle required Water little by little and mix the flour. The flour should be crumbly and moist.
To check the right consistency of the Rice Puttu mixture, take the prepared Rice flour mixture in your fist and close it to form a shape.It should holds together to a shape and when you press it, it should crumble down.Rice Puttu mixture is ready to steam cook.
Method:-
Take a Puttu mould and place the round perforated disc with holes inside the Puttu mould that fills the bottom of the mould.
First spread 1tbsp grated Coconut inside the puttu mould and close the holes of the Perforated disc.
Then pour 2tbsp Rice Puttu mixture inside the mould above the grated Coconut.
Add 1tbsp prepared Jaggery Coconut mixture above the first layer of the Rice Puttu mixture.
Again pour the Rice Puttu mixture inside the mould above the Jaggery Coconut mixture and fill 3/4 of the Puttu mould with the Puttu mixture.
Finish the layer with 1tbsp Jaggery Coconut mixture on the top of the mould. Close the puttu mould with the lid and keep aside.
Boil 3 cup of Water in a pressure cooker and close the cooker lid without putting the cooker weight.
When steam starts to come keep the Rice Puttu mould filled with Puttu mixture on the cooker lid where we put the cooker weight.
Steam cook the sweet Rice Puttu on high flame for 6 minutes and switch of the flame.
Remove the Puttu mould from the cooker lid and hold the mould parallel to a serving plate.
Gently press the bottom of the mould with a laddle stick to slid the steamed sweet Rice Puttu on the serving plate.
A Sweet Rice Flour Puttu / Godda Poot is ready to serve hot with ripe banana.
