The following ingredients are needed to prepare Moogu Kappe Elichikery / Green gram Tapioca Curry.
Ingredients:-
Tapioca. - 250 gm.
Green gram. -1cup
Dry Mango piece.- a small piece.
Salt. - to taste
For grinding the Coconut Masala Paste:-
Grated Coconut. - 3/4cup
Dry Red chillies. - 6
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds. -1/2tsp
Red chilly. -1 broken into halves.
Curry leaves. -1spring
For garnishing:-
Coconut oil. -1/2tsp
Grated Coconut. -3tbsp
Instructions:-
Wash and soak whole Green gram in water overnight and pressure cook for 3 whistles adding 1and 1/2 cup of water. Keep aside.
Chop the Tapioca and remove the outer skin.Wash the Tapioca in water and chop into small cubes. In a vessel add the Tapioca cubes, little Salt and water and cook till the Tapioca becomes soft. Discard the cooked Water and keep aside the Tapioca pieces..
Grind the grated Coconut along with dry Red chillies and Turmeric powder to a smooth paste and keep aside.
Method:-
In a cooking vessel add the cooked Tapioca and cooked Green gram.Add little water and boil for a minute
Add little Salt and a small dry Mango piece.
Add the ground Coconut Masala paste and little water.Mix well and boil for a minute and switch off the flame.
Heat Coconut oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well. Add broken Red chilly halves and Curry leaves.Fry well in oil and switch off the flame.
Pour the above seasoning into the Green gram Tapioca Curry in the cooking vessel.
In the same pan heat 1/2tsp Coconut oil on low flame and roast 3tbsp Coconut grating in the hot oil till golden brown colour and switch off the flame.
Pour the roasted Coconut gratings into the Curry in the cooking vessel.
A tasty and delicious coconut based Moogu Kappe Elichikery / Green gram Tapioca Curry is ready to serve as a side dish with Rice.
