Mugga Dali Duddali (Moong Dal Halwa) / Konkani Recipe


Mugga Dali Duddali is a Konkani style Moong dal Halwa made with split yellow Green gram / split yellow Moong Dal.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Mugga Dali Duddali / Moong Dal Halwa

Ingredients:-

Split yellow Moong dal.       - 1cup
Ghee.                                  -3/4cup
Sugar.                                  -1 cup
Milk                                      -2 cup
Almond, Cashew. Pistachio.-few
Cardamom powder.             -1tsp



Instructions & Methods with few Pictures.


1. Take 1cup split Yellow Moong Dal.




2. Wash the split yellow Moong dal in water for 2 / 3 times and soak in enough water for 6 hours. Then drain the soaked water completely.



3. Grind the soaked split yellow Moong dal to a smooth paste without adding any water and keep 

aside.



4. Put few Almonds in a mixer grinder and ground it for 1 round and keep aside.



5. Heat a pan and add 1cup Sugar and 2 cup of Milk (milk should be double the quantity of sugar) and mix well till the Sugar dissolves in Milk. Boil the Milk and Sugar mixture and keep aside.



6. Grease a plate with little Ghee and keep aside.



7. For making the Mugga Dali Duddali / Moong Dal Halwa, heat 3/4 cup [about 6 tbsp] Ghee in a non stick pan on medium flame. 






8. When the Ghee melts, add the ground Moong dal paste. Mix well and stir continuously on low flame till Moong dal change its colour and the raw aroma of the moong dal go away completely.






9. Add the powdered Almonds, chopped Cashew nuts and chopped pistachios.Mix and stir well.


10. When the Moong dal mixture reaches to a granular consistency add the boiled Milk and Sugar mixture into the non stick pan. Mix well and cook the Halwa. Add little Ghee and keep on stirring the Moong dal Halwa on a medium flame.



11. Add Cardamom powder and mix well.Stir continuously on low flame without sticking the Halwa to the bottom.



12. When the liquid get absorbed and the ghee is seperated, remove the Moong dal Halwa / Mugga Dali Duddali from the flame and transfer to a greased plate.Garnish with some Almonds or some other dry fruits.



13. When little cooled chop the Mugga Dali Duddali /  Moong dal Halwa into desired shape.






14. A tasty and healthy Mugga Dali Duddali / Moong dal Halwa is ready to serve.





Note:-


Instead of Milk you can add Water to make Moong dal Halwa. Water should be double the quantity of Sugar.
