POTATO MASALA GRAVY


A very tasty and delicious gravy dish made with Potatoes and goes well with Rice, Roti etc.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare the Potato Masala Gravy.

Ingredients:-

Potatoes.  - 2
Onion.       -1 medium size
Salt.           -to taste



For Grinding the Coconut Masala Paste:-

Grated Coconut.  -1 cup
Red chillies.         - 6
Coriander seeds. -2tsp
Methi seeds.        -1/4tsp
Tamarind.             - a marble size
Garlic.                   -1 clove



For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil       -2tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Curry leaves.     -1spring



Instructions:-

Wash and peel the Potatoes and chop into medium cubes. Cook the chopped Potato pieces till soft and keep aside.

Peel and finely chop Onion and keep aside.

Heat a pan and dry roast Coriander seeds and Methi seeds seperately.In the same pan add little oil and roast Red chillies and Garlic clove. Add grated Coconut and roast till golden brown.

Grind the roasted Coriander seeds, Methi seeds, Red chillies, Garlic,  grated Coconut and Tamarind together to a fine and thick paste adding very little water and keep aside.



Method:-

Heat Coconut oil in a pan and add Mustard seeds and saute well.

Add Curry leaves and saute well.

Add finely chopped Onion and saute well till the Onion becomes translucent.

Add the cooked Potato pieces and roast well.

Add the ground Masala paste and little water and mix well.

Add required Salt and mix well. Boil and cook for 3 minutes and switch off the flame.

A tasty Potato Masala Gravy is ready to serve as a side dish with Rice, Roti etc.
