Pumpkin leaves are called Dudhi Pallo in Konkani. Dudhi Palla Sukke is a traditional and very tasty Kochi GSB Konkani style coconut masala curry. Pumpkin leaves are rich in vitamins and minerala and are good for health. A tasty and healthy Pumpkin leaves masala curry goes well as a side dish with rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Dudhi Palla Sukke / Pumpkin Leaves Sukke.
Ingredients:-
Pumpkin leaves. - 2bunch
Salt. - to taste
Dharmbe sol. - a small piece (Kudam puli)
For Coconut Masala:-
Grated Coconut. -1cup
Red chilly powder.-1tsp
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. - 2tsp
Urad dal. -1/2tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Fenugreek seeds. -1/4tsp
Instructions:-
1. Take 2 bunch of Pumpkin leaves.Clean and wash the Pumpkin leaves and stems.
2. Chop the Pumpkin leaves and stems into small pieces and keep aside.
3. Add grated Coconut, Red chilly powder and Turmeric powder on a plate. Mix well all the ingredients together with your hands. Keep aside the Coconut Masala mixture.
Method:-
1. Heat Coconut oil in a kadai and add Urad dal and saute well.Splutter Mustard seeds and Fenugreek seeds and saute well. Add the chopped Pumpkin leaves and stems and saute well.
2. Add required Salt and Dharambe sol (Kudam puli) and mix well with the chopped Pumpkin leaves.
3. Sprinkle 2tbsp of water and mix well.Cover and cook on low flame till the Pumpkin leaves and stems cooked well.
4. Add the Coconut masala mixture into the kadai and mix well.
5. Saute well till the Coconut masala mixture mix with the cooked Pumpkin leaves and stems and the water is completely absorbed by the leaves and stems. Switch off the flame.
6. Transfer the Dudhi Palla Sukke / Pumpkin Leaves Sukke to a serving bowl.
A tasty and healthy Dudhi Palla Sukke / Pumpkin leaves Sukke is ready to serve hot with rice.
