Turkey berry Shallots and Potato Stir Fry [Chunda phal, Piyavu ani Kuka Upkari] Konkani Recipe.


A tasty and delicious Konkani style stir fry made with Turkey berry, Potato and Shallots, goes well as a side dish with rice.Turkey berry is called chunda phal, shallots are called piyavu and potato is called kuk in Konkani.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Turkey berry Shallots  and Potato Stir Fry / Chunda phal Piyavu ani Kuka Upkari.

Ingredients:-

Turkey berry.        -2 cup
Shallots.                -10
Potato.                   -1 small.
Mustard seeds.       -1tsp
Red chilly powder. -1tsp
Salt.                        -to taste
Cooking oil.            -2tsp

Instructions:-

Turkey berries / Chunda phal
Remove the stems and wash the Turkey berries in water and chop into two halves and keep the chopped Turkey berry pieces in water to prevent the colour change.

Peel and chop Potato into small pieces and wash well.In a vessel add the chopped Potato pieces and sufficient water. Boil and cook the Potatoes till soft and keep aside.

Peel and wash the shallots and keep aside.

Method:-

Heat Ccoonut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

Add the shallots and required Salt. Mix well and fry the Shallots in oil.

Add Red chilly powder and saute well.

Add the chopped Turkey berries and mix well.

Sprinkle little Water and cook the Turkey berries for 2 minutes on low flame.

Add the cooked Potato pieces and mix well with the cooked Turkey berry and Shallots.

Saute well and switch off the flame.

A tasty Turkey berry Shallots and Potato Stir Fry  / Chunda phal, Piyavu ani Kuka Upkari is ready to serve with Rice and Dal curry.
