Bikkanda Godu Ambat / Jackfruit Seeds Sweet Curry/ GSB Konkani Recipe


Jackfruit seed is called Bikkand and godu means sweet in Konkani. Bikkanda Godu Ambat is a GSB Konkani style Jackfruit Seeds Sweet Curry.Bikkanda Godu Ambat recipe is explained with step by step method and photos.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Bikkanda Godu Ambat /Jackfruit Seeds Sweet Curry.

Ingredients:-

Jackfruit seeds. -20 or 30
Chana dal.         -3/4cup
Jaggery.             -1 and 1/4cup
Cashew nuts.     -10
Salt.                    - to taste

For grinding Coconut Masala paste:-

Grated Coconut.   - 1cup
Dry Red chillies.  - 2
Turmeric powder .-1/4tsp

For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil.    -1tsp
Mustard seeds.-1tsp
Cumin seeds.   -1/2tsp
Curry leaves.    -1spring

Instructions:-

1). Remove the white outer skin of the Jackfruit seeds. Wash well and soak in water overnight.

2). Scrap and remove the outer brown skin of the Jackfruit seeds with a kitchen knife. Then Chop the Jackfruit seeds into 2 pieces horizontally and keep aside.

3). Wash and pressure cook Chana dal along with chopped Jackfruit seeds

4). Crush Jaggery and keep aside.

5). Grind grated Coconut along with dry Red chillies and Turmeric powder to a fine paste. Keep aside the ground Coconut Masala paste.

Method:-

1). In a wide bottom cooking pan add the cooked Chana dal and cooked Jackfruit seeds. Add 1cup of water and boil well.

2). Add crushed Jaggery and 1 cup of water into the cooking vessel and boil well till the Jaggery dissolves in water and mix well.

3). Add required Salt into the cooking pan and mix well.

4). Add Cashew nuts into the curry in the cooking vessel and mix well. Boil and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.

5). Add ground Coconut Masala paste into the curry in the cooking pan.

6). Mix well and boil for 3 minutes on low flame.

7). When the curry become semi thick switch off the flame.

8). Heat oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well. Add Curry leaves the fry well. Switch off the flame and pour the above seasoning into the Bikkanda Ambat /Jackfruit seeds sweet curry in the cooking vessel.

9). Transfer the Bikkanda Ambat to a serving bowl.

10). A very tasty and delicious Bikkanda God Ambat/ Jackfruit seeds Sweet Curry is ready to serve with meal.
