Kelya Upkari / Raw Banana Stir Fry / Konkani Recipe


Raw Banana stir fry (Kelya Upkari) is a Konkani style banana stir fry made with raw Robusta Bananas. A tasty, simple and easy to prepare raw Robusta Banana  stir fry goes well as a side dish with rice and dal curry.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Kelya Upkari /  Raw Banana Stir Fry.

Raw Robusta Banana. -4
Dry Red chillies.         -2
Hing powder.              - a pinch
Salt.                            - to taste
Mustard seeds.           -1tsp
Coconut oil.               -2tsp

Instructions:-

1). Peel the skin of the raw Robusta Banana and wash well.

2). Chop the Banana into medium cubes and keep them in water to prevent discoloring.

3). Broke dry Red chillies into halves and keep aside..

Method:-

1). Heat Coconut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

2). Add broken dry Red chillies into the pan and fry well.

3). Add a pinch of Hing powder and saute well.

4). Drain water completely and add the chopped raw Banana cubes into the pan and saute well.

5). Add required Salt into the pan and mix well.

6). Add little water and mix well. Cover and cook on low flame till the Banana cubes become soft. Saute in between.

7). When the water evaporates and the banana cubes become dry saute well and switch off the flame.

8). Transfer the raw Banana Stir Fry /Kelya Upkari to a serving plate.

A tasty Kelya Upkari / Raw Banana Stir Fry is ready to serve as a side dish with Rice and Dal curry.
