Sasmidi /Ambiya Sassmidi is a Konkani style instant raw mango pickle made with chopped raw mango pieces.Ambya Sasmidi is one of the main side dish served in GSB Konkani meals.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Sasmidi / Ambya Sasmidi (Instant Raw Mango Pickle).
Ingredients:-

Kashmiri Red chilly powder.-2 tbsp
Mustard seeds. -2 tsp
Hing powder. -1 tsp
Salt. - to taste
Boiled and cooled Water. -1/4 cup
Coconut oil. - 1tsp just before serving.
Instructions:-
1). Wash a fresh raw Mango in water and pat dry with a clean cloth.Cut the raw Mango, deseed and chop into thin lengthy slices with skin and again chop into very small pieces and keep aside.

Hing powder. -1 tsp
Salt. - to taste
Boiled and cooled Water. -1/4 cup
Coconut oil. - 1tsp just before serving.
Instructions:-
1). Wash a fresh raw Mango in water and pat dry with a clean cloth.Cut the raw Mango, deseed and chop into thin lengthy slices with skin and again chop into very small pieces and keep aside.
Method:-
1). In a mixer grinder add the crushed Mustard seeds, Kashmiri Red chilly powder and Hing powder.
2). Grind the above ingredients to a smooth paste adding 1/4 cup of boiled and cooled water.Keep aside the ground Red chilly Mustard paste.
3). Add the marinated raw Mango pieces in a ceramic bowl.
6). Ambiya sasmidi / Instant Raw Mango Pickle is ready to serve.Add 1tsp Coconut oil on the Pickle just before serving the pickle.
7). Transfer the raw Mango pickle to a clean and dry glass bottle.
8). Close the bottle tightly with a lid and store the Ambya Sassmidi / Instant Raw Mango Pickle in the fridge and lasts for a month. Always use clean and dry spoon to take out the pickle from the bottle for better shelf life and also to prevent the fungus entering into the pickle and decay the pickle.
A very tasty and delicious Sasmidi / Ambya Sassmidi / Instant Raw Mango Pickle is ready to serve as a side dish with steamed rice dosa or idli.
